About DC Abortion Fund – VA
The DC Abortion Fund started in 1995 when a social worker began raising money for a rape survivor to get an abortion. After she raised the money she needed, she had some money left over, so she saved it for the next time a woman would need help.
This Fund has stayed true to its roots— it is led and staffed entirely by volunteers, and continues to make grants and to people in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia who cannot afford the full cost of an abortion.
DC Abortion Fund – VA's Community
Last year, the DC Abortion Fund helped over 800 people who otherwise could not have paid for their abortions. The helpline provides a safe and confidential connection to healthcare services often restricted by todays political climate around abortion, and their case managers offer financial and pregnancy options counseling to clients, working with area health clinics that also supply birth control and other reproductive health information and services.
