About Stigma Relief Fund – IN

The staff of Whole Woman’s Heath, headquartered in Austin, Texas, created the Bush Relief Fund in December 2003 in response to their frustration with then-President George W. Bush’s restrictions on abortion access. With the election of President Barack Obama in 2008, Whole Womans Health voted to change the funds name to the Stigma Relief Fund in order reflect their dedication to eliminating stigma surrounding abortion.

The goal of the non-profit Stigma Relief Fund is to financially support women seeking the health care they need and to protect women’s access to reproductive health services, including abortion.

Stigma Relief Fund – IN's Community

Since its founding in 2003, Whole Womans Health has opened seven feminist health centers‹five in Texas, one in Maryland, and one in Minnesota‹and sees more than 10,000 women a year for reproductive healthcare. They are also active in politics and education in the communities they serve.
