Types of Support
- Financial Assistance
If you live in Palm Beach County or the Treasure Coast or are going there for your abortion and you are more than 8 weeks pregnant, please call the local clinic, Presidential Womens Center, at 561-686-4126 and they will help you access our Fund. The Fund can also help pay for contraception, ultrasound, and travel, lodging and food costs related to your appointment. When you call, the clinic will need to know your first name, your phone number, the number of weeks you are pregnant, and where you live.
If no one picks up when you call, leave a message with your name and phone number and the clinic will call you back within 24 hours.
About Emergency Medical Assistance Inc.
Emergency Medical Assistance, Inc. (EMA) is one of the earliest abortion funds. It was founded just two years after abortion was legalized in 1975. EMA’s founder, Harriette Glasner, was a Palm Beach resident who sold some of her own jewelry to start the Fund so that women who could not afford the cost of an abortion could still obtain safe care and accurate counseling.
Emergency Medical Assistance Inc.'s Community
EMA is an all-volunteer fund that works with four other abortion funds in Florida to share the expenses of high-cost abortions and to help women who live in areas that lack abortion funds. Last year they helped 300 women who otherwise could not have paid for an abortion.
