Options Fund
open
Supporting people in Wisconsin.
Instructions
If you live on the western side of Wisconsin (from Superior in the north, through Eau Claire and La Crosse, to the Illinois border in the south), Options Fund may be able to help you pay for your abortion, regardless of the state in which you receive your abortion care. Our exact list of counties served is listed below. If you live in one of these counties, make your appointment at the clinic of your choice and find out how much it will cost, then call to reach an Options Fund volunteer. If you don't connect with a volunteer when you call, leave a message on the voicemail with your name and phone number, and someone will return your call within 36 hours (usually within 24 hours).
Options Fund assists people living in these Western Wisconsin counties:
Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Crawford, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Grant, Iowa, Jackson, La Crosse, Lafayette, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Richland, Rusk, St. Croix, Sauk, Sawyer, Trempealeau, Vernon, Washburn.
Please note that two other Wisconsin-based funds help people from the other counties, so be sure to look for those funds on the NNAF website.
About Options Fund
The Options Fund was founded in 1992 and grew out of a local pro-choice coalition called Chippewa Valley Citizens for Choice (CVCC). It is an all-volunteer abortion fund that works to help people in an area of the state where there are no abortion providers. People living in this part of the state not only have to face the cost of the abortion, but also the cost of travel. The Options Fund believes that finances should never play a role in a person’s decision whether or not to continue a pregnancy.
Options Fund's Community
Last year the Options Fund helped 112 people who otherwise could not have paid for their abortions, and gave information and referrals to hundreds of others. The fund is in an underserved area of the state with no abortions providers, so people have to travel a number of hours to reach providers. Most travel across state lines to Minnesota. Wisconsin Medicaid does not cover abortions.
Much of the funding for the Options Fund comes from area individuals who believe in choice and believe in the Options Fund’s mission. They fundraise through letters and special events such as progressive dinners.
The fund is run entirely by volunteers. Volunteers help with fundraising, administration and by returning calls to people in need of the Options Fund services.
