If you live in Rhode Island and need help paying for your abortion, contraception (including emergency contraception), or pregnancy test, the Women’s Health and Education Fund (WHEF) may be able to help. This Fund works directly with clinics, so ask your clinic to contact WHEF to see if they can help you.
About Women’s Health and Education Fund
The Womens Health and Education Fund is a local, all-volunteer organization formed in 1989 that raises money for low-income Rhode Island women who cannot afford an abortion or contraception.
They have been funding women since 1989, and since then, they have provided financial support to more than 4,000 Rhode Island women who otherwise would not have been able to access the reproductive health care of their choice.
Women’s Health and Education Fund's Community
In addition to abortion funding, WHEF started the Contraception Access Program to provide money directly to family planning clinics so that they can help them meet the needs of low-income uninsured women seeking contraceptive care. This program helps over 500 women get contraception each year. Furthermore, as a result of the advocacy work that WHEF and other reproductive health groups have done, Rhode Island’s Prescription Equity Act now requires health insurers to include contraception as part of their coverage.
