Women’s Medical Fund
Types of Support
- Financial Assistance
If you live in Southeastern Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, or Bucks counties) or if you live elsewhere but are going to Southeastern Pennsylvania for an abortion and you need help paying for it, WMF may be able to help you. If you live in other areas of Pennsylvania, we can occasionally provide assistance.
Working with WMF
Step 1. Make an appointment with an abortion provider even if you do not have the money to pay for the abortion.
Step 2. Call our Help Line at 215-564-6222 to talk to our phone counselor about financial assistance. When you call, we will need to know: where you are having the abortion; the date of the abortion; and the cost of the abortion.
About Women’s Medical Fund
In 1985, Pennsylvania cut off Medicaid funding for abortion. Women’s Medical Fund was started that year, because the right to abortion is meaningless for those who cannot afford to pay for it. We support those living in poverty who need abortion care today by providing counseling and emergency financial assistance. We support women in the future by working to expand and equalize access to abortion through lifting the insurance bans and eliminating other barriers.
Since our inception, we have provided assistance to over 30,000 people struggling to make ends meet in Southeastern Pennsylvania, empowering them to exercise their decision to have an abortion.
Donations of time, talent and resources can make a huge difference: join a committee, be part of our activist team, host a house party, attend an event, or make an online donation to help ensure access to abortion care.
