NNAF Statement on Palestine

October 7, 2024

October 7, 2024

The National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) wants to clearly articulate that we stand against the state-funded genocide of Palestinians. Well over 40,000 lives and entire bloodlines have been lost in the onslaught of the past year; this devastating number does not include the recent aggravated escalation onto the civilian population of neighboring Lebanon.

We reject the systematic dehumanization of Palestinians, the generations of specifically Israeli and US state-sanctioned violence, and attempted ethnic cleansing. These are acts of white supremacist governments committed to militarism and war rather than acts of peace and justice. We see similarly horrific impacts repeated in Sudan, Yemen, Ukraine, and many other communities.

We reject attempts to silence, control, or diminish the critical voices of grounded solidarity in relation to the values of Reproductive Justice and Racial Justice, both embodied within NNAF’s mission statement. As a network made up of 100 member funds—each with expertise, leadership, and autonomy—we recognize that NNAF’s primary responsibility is to resource abortion funds and to center abortion funds’ guidance so that they continue to be the leading edge of the critical mutual aid, political, and long-game organizing work which this network was founded upon more than thirty years ago.

We acknowledge the impact of NNAF’s voice having been missing from the broader public conversation on Palestine, as many abortion funds within the network have continued to speak out against the ongoing genocide this past year, often at the risk and reality of losing resources or support. Moving forward, NNAF will stand by our values. Building power through this network means that all of us, especially those of us living with positional privilege, have a responsibility to speak and act when we are witnessing reproductive injustices here and abroad so that, ultimately, our communities can live, thrive, and parent in safe and sustainable environments.
