Mission, Vision & Values
Mission Statement
The National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) works to advance the movement for abortion access by investing in our member network of autonomous abortion funds. We aim to strengthen the network by sustainably resourcing abortion funds, amplifying the work of abortion funds across movements, and fortifying the interconnectedness of abortion funds.
Vision Statement
We envision a world where every reproductive decision, including abortion, is fully accessible and free from shame, coercion, political interference, and criminalization. We envision a world where abortion funds are connected to each other and move in partnership as they create and respond to their local conditions, resources, and communities. In this future, all people have the power and resources to care for and affirm their bodies, communities, and reproductive health in all areas of their lives.
Core Values
Autonomy
Every person has the non-negotiable right to self-determine whether, when, and how to create a family. NNAF is working toward a world in which people have unrestricted access to the rights, resources, and support to care for and make decisions about themselves and their families.
Compassion
Coercion and barriers to reproductive healthcare are forms of violence that should not exist. All people deserve to navigate their lives and decisions free from shame, and with the structures, resources, and care they want. NNAF aspires to move beyond individual empathy toward coordinated action that can lift those barriers and make compassionate systems real and felt.
Interdependence
We strengthen ourselves and one another through relationships, learning and practice, and mutual care. We embrace the shared understanding that all of us affect and are affected by the actions and decisions made within the ecosystem of this network. NNAF strives to embody power responsibly by centering the mutuality of the network in our strategy.
Trust
We work to foster an environment of mutual trust with and among abortion funds, abortion seekers, and movement partners. NNAF aspires to demonstrate trustworthiness by being transparent and responsive, by listening deeply and committing to accountability and repair processes during conflicts.
